Hardness and conductivity testing
HARDNESS TESTING
This process involves measuring the resistance of a material to deformation. By assessing the hardness, we ensure that the material can withstand the stresses and demands of its intended application.
ELECTRICAL BOND CONDUCTIVITY TESTING
Conductivity testing is critical for aerospace components. We measure the electrical conductivity to verify that the parts can maintain proper electrical bonds when assembled. This ensures that all parts function correctly within the larger system.
Heat treating and aging
SOLUTION HEAT TREAT
This process begins by heating aluminum materials to a high temperature, altering their structure to a more workable state. Parts often warp during this stage, but we use precision tools and techniques to straighten them back to their original condition.
AGING
After solution heat treating, parts undergo an aging process. They are baked at specific temperatures for a set period, usually 12-16 hours, to achieve the desired hardness and durability. Some parts may start at a softer temper (T3) and undergo multiple aging stages to reach their final temper.
